Royals-Maple Leafs series opener delayed a day

TORONTO – The Guelph Royals and Toronto Maple Leafs had the opening game of their Intercounty Baseball League quarter-final playoff series postponed a day due to Wednesday’s rain.

The series was to have started Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Toronto’s Dominico Field at Christie Pits. It’s now scheduled to start there Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

All three playoff games in the best-of-five quarter-finals that were set for Wednesday were postponed.

The Hamilton Cardinals were to have played the London Majors at London. That game has been rescheduled for Saturday at 7:35 p.m. and, weather permitting, it’ll slot in as the third game of the series.

The Kitchener Panthers were also to have hosted the Brantford Red Sox at Kitchener’s Jack Couch Park. It has yet to be rescheduled.

With Wednesday’s rainouts, all four series are now to start Thursday.

The Barrie Baycats are to host the Burlington Herd at Coates Stadium at 7:30 p.m., London and Hamilton are to meet at Hamilton’s Bernie Arbour Stadium at 7:30 p.m. and Kitchener and Brantford are to play at Brantford’s Arnold Anderson Stadium starting at 8 p.m.
