Royals post second shutout in two days in girls’ soccer

GUELPH – The Ross Royals made it two shutout victories in District 10 high school girls’ soccer in as many days when they defeated the Centre Wellington Falcons 6-0 at Ross Friday.

The game had been rescheduled from Tuesday and came a day after the Royals defeated the Bishop Macdonell Celtics 3-0.

Lila Martin led the Royals with a pair of goals while single markers were added by Brooke Hoyer, Ava Hunyady, Arife Sadiku and Greta Waller.

Amber Spira picked up the shutout in net for Ross.

Centennial Spartans lead the league at 6-0-0 while Ross is second at 5-1-0 and Bishop Mac third at 3-1-2. They’re followed by the St. James Lions at 2-2-2, Orangeville Bears at 1-2-3, Centre Wellington at 1-3-2, Guelph CVI Green Gaels at 1-4-1 and Lourdes Crusaders at 0-6-0.

The regular season is to wrap up Tuesday with the league’s quarter-finals set for Thursday.
