Saugeen Shores nips 81’s in overtime

PORT ELGIN – Adam Little’s goal five minutes into overtime lifted the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks to a 3-2 victory over the Mapleton-Minto 81’s in Western Ontario Athletic Association AA quarter-final playoffs Friday night.

Saugeen Shores had scored the only goal of the first period before the 81’s shot ahead with a pair of goals in the second before the hosts battled back to tie it with just over four minutes to go in the period. The third was scoreless.

Denver Hill and Brady Anderson had a goal apiece for M-M.

Trent Hawke and Lauchlin Elder scored in regulation time for Saugeen Shores.

The result gives Saugeen Shores a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 3 is slated for Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Palmerston arena.
