Sauve’s goals lift Union to win over Hamilton United

GUELPH – Guelph Union struck for a pair of goals in the first half as they blanked Hamilton United 2-0 in League1 Ontario Women’s Premier soccer play Sunday at Alumni Stadium.

Dani Sauve scored both goals in a seven-minute span. The first came in the 28th minute.

Libby Brenneman picked up the shutout, her third of the season.

Union is seventh in the 20-team league with a 5-3-2 record while Hamilton United is at 2-8-1.

After playing five of their last seven games at home, Union is slated to play three consecutive road games as they’re to play NDC-Ontario (6-0-4) Friday at 9 p.m. at Woodbridge, St. Catharines Roma (5-5-0) at St. Catharines June 26 at 2 p.m. and Pickering FC (1-7-1) at Pickering June 29 at 8 p.m.
