OFSAA Football Bowls 2022

Schedule for three-day OFSAA Football Bowls is out

GUELPH – The schedule for the three-day OFSAA Football Bowls festival to be played at Alumni Stadium Nov. 28 to 30 was released Tuesday.

There are to be three games each day with games to start at 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. each day.

Games on Nov. 28 are to be the Central Bowl at 10 a.m., Simcoe Bowl at 1:30 p.m. and the Metro Bowl at 5 p.m.

The Central Bowl pits the North Western Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association (NORWOSSA) representative St. Patrick Fighting Saints of Thunder Bay against the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA) champions while the Simcoe Bowl features the champions of Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletics (LOSSA) and Georgian Bay Secondary Schools Association (GBSSA). The CWOSSA silver medalists are to play the Toronto District College Athletic Association (TDCAA) champions in the Metro Bowl.

Nov. 29’s games are to be the Independent Bowl at 10 p.m., Western Bowl at 1:30 p.m. and Golden Horseshoe Bowl at 5 p.m.

The Central Ontario Secondary Schools Association (COSSA) champions and Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA) champion St. Michael’s Kerry Blues of Toronto are to battle in the Independent Bowl while the Western Bowl is to match the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA) champion Huron Heights Warriors of Newmarket against the Western Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association (WOSSAA) champions and the Southern Ontario Secondary Schools Association (SOSSA) champions and Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference (GHAC) champions are to tangle in the Golden Horseshoe Bowl.

The schedule for Nov. 30 has the National Capital Bowl slated for 10 a.m., Eastern Bowl at 1:30 p.m. and Northern Bowl at 5 p.m.

Participants in the National Capital Bowl are to be the Toronto District Secondary School Athletic Association (TDSSAA) champs and National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA) champs while the South Western Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association (SWOSSAA) champs and Eastern Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association (EOSSAA) champs are to meet in the Eastern Bowl. The Northern Bowl is to pit the Northern Ontario Secondary Schools Association (NOSSA) champs against the CWOSSA champs.

The CWOSSA final is to go Nov. 22 at 5:30 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.

The District 10 champion Centennial Spartans are to play either the Paris Panthers or the Resurrection Phoenix of Kitchener in a semifinal next Wednesday. Paris and Resurrection are to play in the quarter-final match Thursday at Waterloo St. David’s with the winner hosting Centennial next week.

The other CWOSSA semifinal has the District 6/11 (Waterloo County) champion hosting the District 1/7 (Bluewater) champion Nov. 17.

Jacob Hespeler Hawks of Cambridge are to play the Grand River Renegades of Kitchener in the Waterloo County final Friday at 2 p.m. at Hespeler.

St. Mary’s Mustangs of Owen Sound are to play either the Owen Sound Wolves or Saugeen Royals in the Bluewater final. A semifinal between the Wolves and Royals set for last Friday was postponed due to the labour dispute at the high schools.
