
Senior Gaels come back to edge Spartans
GUELPH – The Guelph CVI Green Gaels rebounded in the second half to top the Centennial Spartans 36-31 in District 10 high school senior girls’ basketball play Tuesday at Centennial.
The hosts led 13-6 at the intermission following a low-scoring opening half.
Acadia Tremain had 12 points for GCVI while Nicole Carbone had eight.
Kayla Hooper had 10 points for Centennial while Jenna Davey added seven and Jada Beuttenmiller had five.
The Gaels have won all three of their league games this season while the Ross Royals are at 1-0 and Centennial and the Lourdes Crusaders are both at 1-1. Bishop Macdonell Celtics are at 0-1 and the St. James Lions are at 0-3.
Lourdes 34 St. James 16
Kayla S. collected nine points for Lourdes while Olivia Doucette netted eight.
Arielle Balmelero led St. James with eight points while Sam Griffiths had four.

Bishop Macdonell 62 Centre Wellington 35
Sydney Richardson connected for 31 points for Bishop Mac while Talya Kridli added 13.
Sydney Sellers had eight for Centre Wellington while Jorja Yake gathered seven.
Orangeville 44 Ross 29
Ayla Corrigale paced Orangeville with 21 points.
Alex Riashuk had seven for Ross.
Guelph CVI 41 Centennial 31
Ally Ostrander’s 14 points sparked GCVI.
Hayley McMillan had 12 for Centennial.
