Senior Spartans record their third victory of hoops season
GUELPH – The Centennial Spartans remained undefeated and moved to the top of the District 10 high school girls’ basketball standings with a 47-29 win over the Ross Royals Tuesday at Ross.
Centennial grabbed an early lead in the first quarter and extended it in the second quarter on their way to the win.
The Spartans were up 12-3 at the end of the first quarter, 25-11 at halftime and 31-19 after the third quarter.
Jocelyn Newby led Centennial with 15 points while Maddie Miller had 10 and Jessica Zhu and Amy Gray added six apiece.
Brooklyn Cracknell connected for 12 for Ross while Drue Costello and Mikayla Rielly each netted four.
St. James 64 Guelph CVI 28
Olivia Brown hit for 19 points for St. James while Grace Mencfeld gathered 17 and Elivia Garbuio added eight.
Eve Elford led GCVI with eight while Emma Pacan and A. Stewart collected four apiece.
Bishop Macdonell 47 Centre Wellington 27
Tyla Timlock’s 13 points topped Bishop Mac’s scoring list while Alicia Higgins followed with 12.
Nicole Cudmore had 10 for Centre Wellington and Abby Taylor picked up six.
Orangeville 30 Lourdes 13

Bronwyn Sweeney turned in a 20-point performance for Ross while Ailani Curvan had 10.
Chiara Marin struck for 14 for Centennial.
Guelph CVI 44 St. James 6
Nicole Carbone collected 10 points for GCVI while Jordyn Best had eight.
Mia Boucher had four for St. James.
