Shamrocks blanked by New Hamburg Firebirds
CAMBRIDGE – All 17 shots by the Hespeler Shamrocks were turned aside Sunday afternoon as they were blanked 6-0 by the New Hamburg Firebirds in Provincial Junior Hockey League play at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
The Shamrocks were also peppered by 47 shots from the visitors.

New Hamburg’s goals matched the period number as they scored once in the first period, twice in the second and three times in the third.
Every other goal – the second, fourth and sixth – was scored by Owen Bruder while Cole Stannix, Lucas Carson and Jack Nell tallied once apiece. Carson had two assists while Adam Barr, Kyle Kraemer, Kyle Barr, Riley Benko and Stannix each had one assist.
Griffin Murphy picked up the shutout with the 17 saves.
Joseph Clark had 41 saves in the Hespeler net.
Next up for the Shamrocks who have six games left on their regular-season schedule is a match against the Tavistock Braves at the Tavistock and District Recreation Centre Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
