CAMBRIDGE – The Hespeler Shamrocks made it two wins in a row in PJHL play Sunday when they doubled the Paris Mounties 4-2 at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.

It was also the first time they won two in a row in regular-season play since Jan. 26 and 29 in 2019. Those two games were part of a four-game unbeaten streak as the Shamrocks had tied the two games immediately prior to the two wins.

Sunday, the Shamrocks rebounded from a 2-1 deficit at the end of the first period with two goals in the second and one in the third.

Jett Spark had two goals for Hespeler while Jack Restauri and Gavin Logher added single goals. Thomas Giffin and Derek Taylor each had two assists while Riley Panagapka, Logher, Braeden Tyler and Restauri each had one.

Aidan Switzer scored both goals for Paris, his first two goals of the season, while assists went to Jaden Shiell, Jacob Wilkinson and Owen Switzer.

The Shamrocks outshot the Mounties 47-35 and both teams were scoreless on three power plays.

Tyson Gustaw had 33 saves for Hespeler while Scott Rodrigue had 43 for Paris.

Hespeler is sixth in the Doherty Division at 4-18-1-1 while Paris is seventh at 1-21-1-2.

The Shamrocks are to wrap up the 2022 portion of their season with a 3-in-3 weekend. They’re to play the fourth-place Norwich Merchants (13-9-1-0) at Norwich Friday at 8 p.m. and the second-place Wellesley Applejacks (17-5-1-1) at Wellesley Saturday at 7:30 p.m. before hosting the fifth-place Woodstock Navy Vets (11-11-0-1) at the Hespeler Memorial Arena Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
