Shamrocks downed by Grimsby Peach Kings
GRIMSBY – The Grimsby Peach Kings scored two goals in each of the first and third periods as they downed the Hespeler Shamrocks 4-0 in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Friday night at Peach King Arena.
Riley Eberhardt stopped all 18 shots he faced for the shutout in net for Grimsby. Gavin McLeod had 27 saves in the Hespeler net.
Grimsby outshot the Shamrocks and went 1-for-7 on its power play while the Shamrocks had six power plays.
Adam Kozlowski scored two of the goals while Brady Cranwell and Ry Beattie added single markers. David McKinnon assisted on two of the goals and Kozlowski, Brennan Smith, Cranwell, Evan Brown and Addison DeTullio each had one assist.
Grimsby’s second in the Bloomfield Division with a 27-4-1-0 and Hespeler is eighth at 5-26-1-1.
The loss was the ninth shutout defeat of the season for the Shamrocks who are to host the third-place Hamilton Huskies Junior Blues (16-14-1-3) Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
