Shamrocks dropped by league-leading Glanbrook

GLANBROOK – The Hespeler Shamrocks were held to 10 shots in the game as they were blanked 8-0 by the Bloomfield Division-leading Glanbrook Rangers in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Wednesday night at the Glanbrook arena.

Glanbrook scored three times in the first period and once in the second for the win.

Mitch Rossit had a hat trick for Glanbrook while single goals were added by Mathew Rimac, Lukas VanBerkel, Erik Nelson, Matt Stayshyn and Keaton Kewley. Dawson Shackelton had three assists while Jake Pelissier, Rimac and Noah Matteson had two apiece and Rossit, Elijah Nurse, Connor Maitz, Connor King and VanBerkel had one each.

Gavin McLeod took the loss in net for Hespeler despite making 40 saves.

Glanbrook went 2-for-3 on its power play while Hespeler was scoreless on three power plays.

Glanbrook leads the division at 25-1-0-1 while Hespeler trails at 4-20-1-1.

The Shamrocks are to play the second-place Grimsby Peach Kings (20-4-1-0) at Grimsby Friday at 7:30 p.m. and host the third-place Niagara RiverHawks (14-12-0-2) Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
