Shamrocks give up four in third as Dundas stays alive in series

CAMBRIDGE – The Hespeler Shamrocks yielded four goals in the third period as the Dundas Blues posted a 5-2 victory to stay alive in Provincial Junior Hockey League Bloomfield Division playoffs Wednesday night at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the Shamrocks took a 2-1 lead in the second before Dundas rallied with four goals in the third, three of them in the final five minutes of the game and two of those into an empty Hespeler net in the final 73 seconds.

Noah Trudeau and Kyle Yetman scored the goals for the Shamrocks while assists were awarded to Dylan Cummings, Darrian Morgan, Tony Tikel and Ryan Terry.

Dundas received goals from Ethan Wellings, Scott McLaren, Adam Kozlowski, Andrew Salt and Chris Cudek. Salt and Daniel Moro each had two assists while Cudek, Ryan Ellis, Kozlowski and Will Thomas had one each.

Dundas outshot the Shamrocks 43-39 and went 1-for-5 on its power play while Hespeler scored on its lone power play.

Nolan Verardo had 37 saves to get the victory in the Dundas net while Hespeler’s Gavin MacLeod had 38 saves.

The result leaves Hespeler’s lead in the best-of-seven series at 3-1. Game 5 is set for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Dundas.
