Shamrocks handed setback by Grimsby Peach Kings

GRIMSBY – The Grimsby Peach Kings connected for the opening two goals of the game on their way to a 4-1 victory over the Hespeler Shamrocks in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Friday night at the Peach Kings Arena.

Grimsby led 2-0 at the end of the first period and 3-1 after the second.

Kyle Wagner had the lone goal for Hespeler while Devin Schneider and Josh Houston helped on the play.

Maxime Pleau, Bailey Stumpo, Mike Venditelli and Jacob Barnowski each had a goal for Grimsby. Assists were awarded to Dravin Maye, Maxim Ljuboja, Jacob Balca, Carter Bouwers, Pleau and Michael Grace.

Grimsby outshot the Shamrocks 36-26 and went 1-for-3 on its power play while Hespeler went 0-for-3.

Gavin MacLeod had 32 saves in the Hespeler net while Riley Eberhardt had 25 saves for Grimsby.

Next up for the Shamrocks is a home game against the Glanbrook Rangers Sunday at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
