
Shamrocks hit in overtime to end losing streak
TAVISTOCK – Jack Restauri’s goal in overtime gave the Hespeler Shamrocks a 6-5 victory over the Tavistock Braves in PJHL play Friday night at the Tavistock and District Recreation Centre.
The win put an end to Hespeler’s eight-game losing streak.

The Shamrocks also rallied from a 4-1 deficit at the end of the first period. Tavistock led 4-3 after the second before the Shamrocks tied the score twice in the third period. Kwang Sheng Luu’s goal with 68 seconds remaining in regulation time forced the extra time.
Jett Spark, Carter Murphy, Braeden Tyler and Owen Goetz also scored for Hespeler while Thomas Giffin had two assists. Getting one assist apiece were Tyler, Goetz, Derek Taylor, Restauri, Mitch Perry, Josh Hillis, Spark and Riley Panagapka.
Scoring for Tavistock were Tyler Brezynskie, Carter Arseneau, Daniel Rudy, Will Schlotzhauer and Kaden Brame. Trent Davies picked up two assists while Carter McKay, Marc Dionne, Bo Schurink, Luke Fanjoy, Rudy, Ian Glendenning and Ryan Suljak each had one.
Tavistock outshot the Shamrocks 43-38 and the Braves went 1-for-5 on their power play while Hespeler was scoreless on four power plays.
Tyson Gustaw had 38 saves for the Shamrocks while Jeff Kernichan had 32 for Tavistock.
Hespeler is sixth in the Doherty Division at 3-18-1-1 while Tavistock is third at 12-8-1-2.
The Shamrocks are to host the Paris Mounties (seventh at 1-19-1-2) Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
