Shamrocks move closer to quarter-final series victory
CAMBRIDGE – The Hespeler Shamrocks are a win away from the Provincial Junior Hockey League Bloomfield Division’s semifinals.
The Shamrocks took a 3-0 lead in their best-of-seven divisional quarter-final with a win over the Dundas Blues by a score identical to their series lead.
Hespeler scored once in each period for the 3-0 triumph Sunday at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
Kyle Yetman, Austin Reilly and Devin Schneider had a goal apiece for the Shamrocks while assists went to Matthew Hayward, Matthew Tonner, Schneider, Drew Fulton, Matthew Diebolt and Tony Tikel.
Gavin MacLeod stopped 33 shots to get the shutout for the host Shamrocks. Nolan Verardo had 32 saves for Dundas while the final goal of the game was scored into an empty net.
Both teams were scoreless on their power plays with Dundas having six power plays and Hespeler having five.
Fourth game of the series is set for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Hespeler.
If Dundas wins that game, the fifth game is to go Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Market Street arena in Dundas.
