Shamrocks overpowered by Glanbrook Rangers

CAMBRIDGE – The Hespeler Shamrocks surrendered five power-play goals as they were dumped 10-1 by the Glanbrook Rangers in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday night at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.

Glanbrook scored the only goal of the first period and expanded its lead to 5-0 by the end of the second period.

Austin Slaney scored an unassisted goal for the Shamrocks at 8:44 of the third period.

Keaton Kewley had a hat trick for Glanbrook while Connor King scored twice and single goals were netted by Dallas Nadasdi, Noah Matteson, Sandy Ciccarelli Jr., Connor Maitz and Connor McQuhae. Maitz and Josh Pace each had three assists while Matteson, McQuhae and Jackson Willis had two each. Single assists were awarded to Tyler Miket, Matthew Hogan, Jake Pelissier, Aidan Robitaille, Sean Golebiowski and King.

The Rangers, who outshot the Shamrocks 75-22, went 5-for-11 on their power play and held Hespeler scoreless on five power plays.

Warren Lament collected the win in net for Glanbrook while Gavin McLeod took the loss for Hespeler.

The loss drops the Shamrocks to 1-4-0-0 in league play while Glanbrook leads the Bloomfield Division at 6-0-0-1.

The Shamrocks are to play the Port Dover Sailors (2-4-0-0) at the Port Dover arena Sunday at 2 p.m.
