Shamrocks score three in a row to slip by Burford
BURFORD – A pair of second-period goals helped the Hespeler Shamrocks slip by the Burford Bulldogs in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday at the Burford Arena.
The hosts actually opened and closed the scoring with all three Hespeler goals sandwiched in between.

The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the first period before the Shamrocks shot ahead 3-1 by the end of the second.
Brett Hartin, Noah Trudeau and Tommy Zufelt collected a goal apiece for Hespeler while assists went to Tyler MacGillivary, Braeden Tyler, Josh Hillis and Hartin.
Thomas Morgan (23 seconds into the game) and Carter Murphy scored for Burford while Connor MacPhee, CJ Briggs and Hunter Mabee each had an assist.
The Shamrocks outshot Burford 30-28 while the Bulldogs had a power-play goal, the only goal of the game scored by a team with a manpower advantage.
Hespeler’s record improves to 5-8-0-0 with the win, good for fifth in the Doherty Division. Burford is seveneth at 0-11-1-1.
The game was the middle one of a three-in-three weekend for the Shamrocks. They’re to host the Tavistock Braves (9-3-1-0) Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
