
Shamrocks shut down by hot Tavistock keeper
TAVISTOCK – The Hespeler Shamrocks ran into a hot goaltender Friday night as they suffered a 5-3 loss to the Tavistock Braves in PJHL play at the Tavistock and District Recreation Centre.
The Shamrocks outshot Tavistock 50-26 thanks to an 18-6 advantage in the third period, but couldn’t pull even.

Tavistock scored the lone goal of the first period and led 4-2 at the end of the second.
Jett Spark had a pair of goals for the Shamrocks while Hudson Weger also scored. Alex Spencer had two assists while Riley Panagapka and Justin George had one each.
Luke Fanjoy scored twice for Tavistock while single goals were added by Kaden Brame, Bo Schurink and Jayden Seguin. Marc Dionne and Will Schlotzhauer had two assists apiece while single assists went to Carter McKay, Christian Bergmann and Tyler O’Hearn.
While the Shamrocks were scoreless on five power plays, they also weren’t penalized in the match.
Tyson Gustaw started in net for Hespeler, but was pulled after Tavistock’s fourth goal at 5:55 of the second. It was also the third goal in three minutes for the hosts. Ben Desroches went the rest of the way and had 11 saves. Gustaw had 10.
James Hooper had 47 saves for Tavistock.
The Shamrocks are sixth in the seven-team Doherty Division at 2-14-1-1 while Tavistock is third at 12-5-0-1.
The Shamrocks are to host the division-leading New Hamburg Firebirds (15-1-1-1) at the Hespeler Memorial Arena Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
