
Shamrocks suffer loss to Tavistock in overtime
CAMBRIDGE – The Hespeler Shamrocks yielded a goal in overtime as they suffered a 4-3 loss to the Tavistock Braves in PJHL play Thursday night at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
The goal by Nathan Yeck 1:41 into overtime capped a comeback by Tavistock that saw the Braves rally from a 3-0 deficit 14 minutes into the second period.

The Shamrocks led 2-0 at the end of the first period and 3-1 after the second. The Braves forced the overtime with two goals in the third.
Hudson Weger, Carter Murphy and Jack Restauri scored the goals for Hespeler while Kwang Sheng Luu and Derek Taylor each had an assist.
Carter Arseneau, Ryan Suljak and Zach Gladding scored in regulation time for Tavistock. Christian Bergmann, Ian Glendinning and Suljak collected single assists.
The Braves outshot the Shamrocks 46-36 and went 0-for-3 on their power play while the Shamrocks went 0-for-2.
Tyson Gustaw had 42 saves in the Hespeler net. James Hopper started for Tavistock, but was replaced at 2:33 of the second period after Hespeler’s third goal. He had 18 saves and Jeff Kernichan had 15 the rest of the way.
New Hamburg Firebirds lead the Doherty Division at 12-1-1-1 while Tavistock is second at 11-4-0-1. The Shamrocks are sixth at 2-11-1-1.
The Shamrocks are to play the fourth-place Norwich Merchants (8-6-1-0) at the NOR-DEL Arena Friday at 8 p.m. and host the third-place Wellesley Applejacks (9-4-1-1) Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
