Shutouts way of day for Guelph field hockey squads

GUELPH – Shutouts were the trend as the Guelph schools participating in District 4/10 high school girls’ field hockey got their seasons underway Wednesday at Ross.

The host Ross Royals had a pair of shutout victories while the Guelph CVI Green Gaels and Centennial Spartans each had one.


Ross 3 Bishop Macdonell 0

Leah Penner had the hat trick for Ross while Helena Born earned the shutout.


Guelph CVI 1 Centennial 0

Heidi Woolcott was the game’s lone scorer while Abbey Doucette had the shutout.


Centennial 4 Bishop Macdonell 0

Centennial received single goals from Sydney Huether, Ainsley Reinhart, Keeley O’Connor and Sarah Devereux.


Ross 6 Guelph CVI 0

Leah Penner and Mara Scott tallied twice apiece for Ross while Mackenzie Martin and Kokona Saika had single goals. The shutout went to Helena Born.
