
Silvercreeks upend Waterloo for sixth consecutive win
WATERLOO – The league-leading Guelph Silvercreeks recorded their sixth consecutive victory in Intercounty Baseball Association 22U play Saturday as they downed the Waterloo Tigers 7-2 at Waterloo’s Lexington Park.
The Creeks kept Waterloo scoreless until the ninth inning when the Tigers scored both of their runs.

Guelph scored four runs in the third inning to go ahead for good. The Creeks added two more runs in the fourth and completed their scoring with a run in the sixth.
The Creeks collected eight hits in the game and committed two errors while Waterloo had five hits and three errors.
Jason Boulanger picked up the win on the mound for Guelph as he held Waterloo scoreless on three hits in his seven innings of work. He had 11 strikeouts.
Aidan Mendonza went 3-for-5 at the plate. He scored a run and knocked in four. Alec MacIntyre drove in a run as he went 2-for-5 and Spencer Bertelson also drove in a run with a 1-for-3 performance.
Guelph leads the eight-team league at 9-1-1 while the Kitchener Junior Panthers are second at 6-2-0 and Waterloo’s third at 5-4-2. They’re followed by the Brantford Junior Red Sox at 4-4-1, St. Thomas Tomcats at 4-3-0, Stratford Nationals at 3-6-1, Welland Junior Jackfish at 1-7-1 and Hamilton Junior Cardinals at 0-5-0.
The Creeks are to play the Junior Cardinals at Hamilton’s Bernie Arbour Stadium Monday at 7:30 p.m.
