Snowstorm postpones Rocks’ playoff opener with Killer Bees

ELORA – Friday’s snowstorm forced the postponement of the opening game of the WOSHL quarter-final playoff series between the defending champion Elora Rocks and the Alvinston Killer Bees.

It was to have been played at the Elora and District Community Centre, but has been postponed until Sunday at 1 p.m. and it is to be played at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex in Fergus.

That game also becomes the second game of the best-of-five affair as the series is now set to open Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Alvinston.

Elora and Alvinston split their regular-season games with the Rocks winning 5-2 at Elora Oct. 7 and the Killer Bees prevailing 4-3 in overtime Nov. 12 at Alvinston.

Other games in the series are slated for next Friday at Elora at 8:30 p.m.; March 11 at Alvinston at 6:30 p.m. and March 12 at Elora at 1:30 p.m. The games on March 11 and 12 will be played only if they’re needed.

Elora finished second at the completion of the regular season with an 18-4-0-2 record, one point behind the Tilbury Bluebirds and 25 ahead of the seventh-place Killer Bees (6-17-0-1).
