Spartans claim first-place finish in senior volleyball

GUELPH – The Centennial Spartans clinched a first-place finish in District 10 high school senior boys’ volleyball standings Tuesday when they swept the Centre Wellington Falcons.

Playing at home, the Spartans won 25-17, 25-22 and 25-23.

The win completed Centennial’s regular season and they finish at 11-1. While the Ross Royals can also finish at 11-1, Centennial will win a tie-breaker thanks to the regular-season results between the two teams.

The Spartans defeated the Royals 3-0 at Centennial Oct. 2 and the Royals beat the Spartans 3-2 last Thursday at Ross.

By finishing first, the Spartans will get a bye in next Monday’s quarter-finals.
