Spartans stretch senior basketball win streak

GUELPH – The Centennial Spartans posted their third consecutive victory in District 10 high school senior girls’ basketball play Thursday when they upended the St. James Lions 50-45.

Jessica Zhu led the Spartans with 12 points while Sarah Cobey had 11.

Grace Mencfeld had a game-high 22 for St. James while Lauralee Mackeigan followed with 17.

 

Bishop Macdonell 67 Ross 25

The Celtics remained unbeaten with the win. Tyla Timlock connected for 12 points while Alicia Higgins contributed 10.

Sarah Hopkins had 10 for Ross and Sammie Slater and Maryam Mohammed gathered six apiece.

Junior

Centre Wellington 46 Guelph CVI 40

The Falcons evened their record at 2-2 with the win. Josie Hayward had 16 points for Centre Wellington while Sarah Tindall added eight.

Olga Llander collected 16 for GCVI and Eve Elford chipped in with 11.

 

St. James 43 Centennial 10

St. James remained unbeaten with the victory, their fourth in as many league outings. Ella Farrelly led the scoring with 15 points while Amanda Lago netted 13.

Maddie Patrick had four for Centennial.

 

Ross 61 Bishop Macdonell 19

Ross collected its first win of the season with the victory. Bronwyn Sweeney had a game-high 14 points for the Royals while Koby Commandant collected 10.

Madeline Tavares had nine for Bishop Mac.
