Spartans stretch win streak to four games in senior basketball

GUELPH – The Centennial Spartans made it four wins in a row in District 10 high school senior girls’ basketball play Tuesday with a 44-27 victory over the Ross Royals.

The Spartans are at 4-1 as they haven’t lost since dropping their season opener to the Bishop Macdonell Celtics.

Jessica Zhu led the Spartans with 13 points while Amy Gray followed with eight.

Sarah Hopkins had 11 for Ross and Payton Rickers chipped in with five.


St. James 45 Lourdes 24

Payton Cathcart and Lauralee MacKeigan connected for 12 points apiece for St. James. Grace Mencfeld contributed 11 and Kayla Visentin had six.

Sami Romero netted 10 for Lourdes while Syd Benninger had four and Ronette Eimar and Rachel Casupanan collected three apiece.



Centre Wellington 47 Bishop Macdonell 25

Josie Hayward struck for a game-high 16 points for Centre Wellington.

Madeline Tavares led Bishop Mac with eight.


St. James 55 Lourdes 22

Amanda Lago gathered 26 points for St. James as the Lions remained unbeaten. Elivia Garbuio added 13.

Modera Omot had 12 for Lourdes and Isabella Banni contributed seven.


Ross 53 Centennial 8

Emma Capper sparked Ross with a 12-point outing while Alicia Garay added eight.

Miren Oliver had four for Centennial.
