Guelph Royals dropped by Oriental in KDSL play

Guelph Royals continue to look for their first victory of the season in Kitchener and District Soccer League play after being dropped 8-1 by Oriental SC Sunday at Guelph Lakes Sports Fields.

Lukas Cimermancic led Oriental with a hat trick while Cristian Sanchez tallied twice. Sasha Dmitrovic, Jean Marc Nounissi and Tyler Martin also scored.

Guelph’s scorer was not reported.

Banat SFC leads the Premier Division at 5-0-0 (W-L-T) while Oriental is second at 5-1-0 and Polish Eagles Kitchener third at 5-3-0. They’re followed by Stratford City FC (4-2-1), Owen Sound United (3-4-2), Riverside FC (3-4-0), FC Rohingya (0-4-2) and the Royals (0-7-1).

The Royals have a pair of games on their schedule this week as they’re to host league-leading Banat SFC Friday at 9 p.m. at Guelph Lakes Sports Fields and play Polish Eagles Kitchener at Kitchener’s Schlegel Park Sunday at 9 p.m.

 

Rockwood, Banat tie one on in OWSL South Region play

Rockwood FC and league-leading Banat FC battled to a scoreless draw in Ontario Women’s Soccer League play Sunday at Kitchener’s Banat Park.

Helena Kunic had the shutout for Rockwood while Lesia Bandura collected the shutout for Banat.

The result leaves Rockwood at 3-4-2 (W-L-T) and Banat at 8-0-2.

Rockwood is to host SC Toronto Eagles (2-6-0) at Marden Park July 24 at 9 p.m.

 

Rockwood connects for U21 victory over Brams United

Rockwood FC ran to a 3-1 victory over Brams United Red in Ontario Women’s Soccer League South West Region U21 play Thursday at Marden Park.

Elivia Garbuio had two goals for the locals while Leah Panariti added the other one.

Celina Brito scored for Brams United.

The win leaves Rockwood at 6-1-1 (W-L-T).

Rockwood is to play HEADS United (2-4-3) Wednesday at 9 p.m. at Hillsburgh’s Barbour Field.

 

Guelph Royals slip by North York Academy in OSL Regional West play

Brett King scored the game’s lone goal as the Guelph Royals edged North York Academy 1-0 in Ontario Soccer League Regional West play Thursday at Centennial Bowl.

Sam Hincks picked up the shutout.

The Royals are 4-4-0 (W-L-T) in league play while North York is 0-5-1.

The Guelph side is to host Toronto Irish FC (5-1-0) Thursday at 9 p.m. at Centennial Bowl.

 

FEDS United dropped by Orangeville Storm in U21 play in Fergus

FEDS United suffered a 6-1 loss to Storm FC of Orangeville in Southwest District Soccer League U21 men’s play at Victoria Park in Fergus.

Cooper Carberry had the lone goal for the hosts.

Tyler Bradbury and Sabastian Valenzano scored twice each for the Storm while single goals were added by Tobias Deshaies and Hunter Regimbal.

FEDS are fifth in the league at 0-8-1 (W-L-T) while the Storm are second at 5-3-2.

FEDS are to play Oriental SC (2-3-2) at Oriental’s field in Cambridge Thursday starting at 7 p.m.

Redcoats Firsts women remain unbeaten in OWL play

Guelph Redcoats collected their ninth win in as many Ontario Women’s League first team outings Saturday as they dropped the Brantford Harlequins 67-3.

The Redcoats lead the eight-team league at 9-0-0 (W-L-T) and they’re followed by the Aurora Barbarians at 6-2-1, Toronto Nomads and Brantford both at 5-4-0, Scarborough RFC at 4-4-1, Oshawa Vikings at 4-5-0 and Peterborough Pagans and London St. George both at 1-8-0.

The Redcoats get a bye in the opening round of OWL Cup play and are to host a semifinal match August 10 at Guelph Lake Sports Fields.

The Redcoats squeezed out a 14-10 victory over Brantford to complete their OWL second-team league’s regular-season play Saturday at Brantford.

The result tightened things at the top of the table. Peterborough Pagans finished first at 6-2-1 while the Redcoats, Brantford and Scarborough RFC each finished with 6-3-0 records. Oshawa Vikings were next at 5-3-1 while Aurora Barbarians Guardian Angels finished at 3-6-0, Toronto Nomads finished at 2-7-0 and London St. George finished at 1-8-0.

 

Redcoats men drop Norfolk Harvesters

Guelph Redcoats ran to a 33-10 victory over the Norfolk Harvesters in Niagara Rugby Union men’s A play Saturday at Waterford District High School.

The result leaves the two teams tied for second with 6-1-0 (W-L-T) records.

Niagara Wasps lead at 7-0-0 while Stoney Creek Camels are fourth at 5-2-0, Windsor Rogues fifth at 3-4-0, Stratford Blackswans sixth at 3-5-0, Fergus Highland seventh at seventh at 2-5-0 and Grimsby RFC and Hamilton Hornets tied for eighth with 0-7-0 records.

The Redcoats are to play Stoney Creek at Saltfleet High School Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

 

Fergus Highland women downed by Crusaders

Fergus Highland suffered a 39-20 loss to the Crusaders RC in Niagara Rugby Union women’s A play Saturday at the Crusaders pitch in Oakville.

The result leaves the two teams and the Hamilton Hornets in a tie for fourth in the seven-team league with 2-4-0 (W-L-T) records.

Waterloo County leads at 6-0-0 while Burlington Centaurs are second at 5-1-0 and Niagara Wasps are third at 3-3-0. Stoney Creek Camels are seventh at 1-5-0.

Highland and Crusaders are to meet again August 10 at 12:30 p.m. at Victoria Park in Fergus.
