Guelph Gryphons blanked in OWSL Provincial season opener

LONDON — Guelph Gryphons suffered a 5-0 loss to Alliance FC Galaxy in their Ontario Women’s Soccer League Provincial division season opener at Windemere Park Sunday.

Emily Costello, Hannah Vickers, Tiffany Johnston, Cassidy Wuytenberg and Laura Gibson had a goal apiece for Alliance FC while Emily Gillet collected the shutout.

The Gryphons are to host Paris FC June 6 at 9 p.m. at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

 
Guelph United defeated by ProStars in L1O U19 Reserve men’s play

BRAMPTON – Guelph United suffered a 2-0 loss to ProStars in League1 Ontario Men’s U19 Reserve soccer play Friday at Avondale Stadium.

The loss was the first of the season for United following a win and two ties.

United is sixth in the West Division.

United is to host Burlington SC (3-0-1) Thursday at 9 p.m. at Eastview Park.

Guelph Cricket Club fall to Waterloo ARCC Red

GUELPH – The Guelph Cricket Club was beaten by five wickets by ARCC Red of Waterloo in United Friendly Cricket League play Sunday.

ARCC Red scored 116 runs, one more than GCC.

GCC is to play a pair of matches next weekend as they’re to take on ARCC Orange Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Laurel Creek Conservation Area.

Sunday, the locals are to play the London Eagles at the North London Athletic Fields beginning at 12 noon.

The locals lost to ARCC Blue by six wickets and Lancers CC Royals by two wickets and forfeited a match against the Sarnia Cricket Club.

The Guelph squad has lost all four of its matches this season while ARCC Red is at 3-1-0, ARCC Orange is 2-1-0 and the Eagles are 0-2-0.
