St. James Lions cross plate in fifth to collect victory

GUELPH – The St. James Lions struck for all of their runs in the fifth inning as they slipped by the Lourdes Crusaders 3-0 in District 4/10 high school baseball league play Monday at Pearson Park.

The Lions connected for five hits in the match while the Crusaders managed three.

Cameron Hewitt and Massimo Church each hit doubles for St. James while Hayden LeGrand had an infield single and Andreas Campagnolo and Noah Graham each hit bunt singles.

Eric Blaumer and Colby Ariss connected for a double apiece for Lourdes and Colin Carscadden smacked a single.

The win moves St. James to third in the standings at 2-1-1. They trail the Ross Royals (4-0-0) and Centennial Spartans (4-1-0) and lead Lourdes (2-3-0), Bishop Macdonell Celtics (1-2-1), Guelph CVI Green Gaels (1-3-0) and Westside Thunder (0-4-0).
