St. James Lions eighth in A/AA field lacrosse festival

OWEN SOUND – The St. James Lions finished eighth in the OFSAA provincial high school A/AA boys’ field lacrosse festival Tuesday.

The Lions suffered a pair of losses on the second day of the two-day tournament as they were edged 6-5 by Patrick Fogarty Flames of Orillia in a fifth-place pool semifinal and 10-7 by the St. Mark Lions of Manotick in the seventh-place game.

Holy Trinity Titans of Courtice won the gold-medal game 11-9 over the Governor Simcoe Redcoats of St. Catharines while the McKinnon Park Blue Devils of Caledonia took the bronze-medal match 12-4 over the Holy Cross Hurricanes of Peterborough.

In preliminary pool play Monday, St. James lost 12-2 to Governor Simcoe and won 7-6 over the Huntsville Hoyas.

The Lions were seeded 11th for the tournament.
