St. James Lions seeded 14th for OFSAA tournament

GUELPH – The St. James Lions have been seeded 14th for next week’s OFSAA provincial high school AA boys’ basketball championship tournament at Timmins.

The Lions are to play eighth-seed Frontenac Falcons of Kingston in their tournament opener Monday at 11:15 a.m.

If they win that game, the Lions’ second game will be against the winner of a match between ninth-seed Ashbury Colts of Ottawa and 11th-seed Thornlea Thunder of Markham Tuesday at 9 a.m.

If St. James drops its opener, its second game will be against the loser of a match between top-seed Kenndy Clippers of Windsor and 19th-seed Thousand Islands Pirates of Brockville Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Other teams in the tournament in order of seeding are second-seed Westview Wildcats of North York, third-seed Mother Teresa Spartans of London, fourth-seed Crescent Coyotes of Toronto, fifth-seed St. Joseph’s Jaguars of Barrie, sixth-seed St. Francis Phoenix of St. Catharines, seventh-seed Timmins Lions, 10th-seed Corpus Christi Longhorns of Burlington, 12th-seed St. Paul Patriots of Niagara Falls, 13th-seed James Cardinal McGuigan Wolves of North York, 15th-seed St. Theresa Titans of Belleville, 16th-seed St. Ignatius Falcons of Thunder Bay, 17th-seed Lo-Ellen Park Knights of  Sudbury, 18th-seed Father Leo J. Austin Wildcats of Whitby and 20th-seed ESC Theriault Flames of Timmins.

The quarter-finals are set for Tuesday with the medal games, gold and bronze, scheduled for Wednesday.
