St. Mary’s Eagles soar to another junior soccer title

GUELPH – The St. Mary’s Eagles continued their domination of CWOSSA high school junior boys’ soccer Friday when they captured the championship tournament for the third consecutive year.

It was also the 10th time in the 14-year history of the tournament that the Eagles came out on top.

The Eagles won the championship game at the Gryphon Soccer Complex by a 4-1 score over the Cameron Heights Gaels of Kitchener.

Mate Palancaji had a hat trick for St. Mary’s while Dom Panameno scored the other goal.

Jeremiah Osorio scored for Cameron Heights.

The Eagles advanced to the final with a 5-2 victory over the Resurrection Phoenix of Kitchener in the semifinals.

Palancaji also had a hat trick in that game while Tiago Fernandes and Aleksander Savic scored once each.

Resurrection’s goals were scored by Miguel Gonzalez and Joey Suh.

The other semifinal saw Cameron Heights edged the District 10 champion Orangeville Bears 2-1.

Osorio and Justus Schafer had the goals for Cameron Heights.
