
Storm edged by Oshawa to fall into conference cellar
GUELPH – The Guelph Storm’s losing streak hit four games Friday night at the Sleeman Centre when they were edged 4-3 by the Oshawa Generals.
The other three losses were in last weekend’s eastern swing. The Storm have one victory in eight games this season.

Friday, neither team led by more than a goal in the tight-checking affair. Oshawa struck for the winning goal midway through the third period.
The Storm scored first in the game, but the score was tied 1-1 at the end of the first period and Oshawa led 3-2 after the second.
Danny Zhilkin, Sasha Pastujov and Cooper Walker had a goal apiece for the Storm while assists were awarded to Braeden Bowman, Jake Murray, Jake Karabela, Zhilkin and Ben McFarlane.
Luke Torrance, Stuart Rolofs, Brett Harrison and Beckett Sennecke netted the goals for Oshawa while Nikita Parfenyuk had two assists and Lleyton Moore, Dylan Roobroeck, Sennecke, Torrance and Cameron Butler each had one.
The Storm outshot the Generals 22-18 as neither team managed to get 10 shots on net in a single period. Both teams also went 1-for-2 on their power play while the Storm dominated the faceoffs, winning 43 of the 62 faceoffs in the game.
Dixon Grimes had 14 saves in the Storm net while Patrick Leaver had 19 saves for Oshawa.
The loss drops the Storm into the basement of the Western Conference with a 1-6-1-0 record. Oshawa is fifth in the Eastern Conference at 4-3-0-1.
Next up for the Storm is a pair of games against the Kitchener Rangers who are ninth in the 10-team Western Conference at 2-5-0-0. They’re to play at the Sleeman Centre Saturday at 7 p.m. and at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Tuesday at 7 p.m.
