Storm nipped in overtime by Owen Sound

OWEN SOUND – Sam Sedley’s goal after just over two and a half minutes of overtime lifted the Owen Sound Attack to a 3-2 victory over the Guelph Storm in Ontario Hockey League play Saturday night at Owen Sound’s Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

The loss put an end to the Storm’s three-game winning streak.

Owen Sound led 2-1 after the first period before a scoreless second.

Matthew Papais pulled the Storm even with seven minutes to go in regulation time when he scored his second goal of the game. Luka Profaca, Cooper Walker, Jake Karabela and Michael Buchinger each had an assist.

Colby Barlow scored Owen Sound’s two first-period goals just over three minutes apart. Cedrick Guindon assisted on both while Ethan Burroughs set up the overtime marker.

The Storm outshot the Attack 35-32 despite being outshot 5-1 in extra time. Both teams were scoreless on their power plays, the Storm on one and the Attack on three.

Jacob Oster had 29 saves in net for the Storm while Nick Chenard had 33 saves for Owen Sound.

The game was the second of a three-in-three weekend for the Storm. They’re to host the Kitchener Rangers Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
