Storm shut down Kitchener to jump to third
KITCHENER – The Guelph Storm held the Kitchener Rangers to 17 shots as they skated to a 4-0 victory in Ontario Hockey League play Tuesday night at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
The Storm scored once in the first period and twice in the second.

Owen Bennett picked up the shutout while his teammates fired 40 shots at the Kitchener goal guarded by Pavel Cajan.
Danny Zhilkin had a pair of power-play goals while Matthew Papais and Valentin Zhugin also scored. Sasha Pastujov set up two goals while single assists were recorded by Matthew Poitras, Ben McFarlane, Michael Bianconi and Luka Profaca.
The Storm went 2-for-5 on their power play and shut down three power plays by the Rangers.
The game was the fifth between the teams this season. Kitchener won the first three, the first victory coming in overtime, while the Storm have won the latest two.
With the win, the Storm jump past the Rangers and into third place in the Western Conference at 6-4-1-0. The London Knights lead at 8-0-0-0 while the Soo Greyhounds are second at 7-4-0-0 and Kitchener is fourth at 6-4-0-0.
The Storm head north for a pair of games against the Greyhounds in Sault Ste. Marie. They’re to play both Friday and Saturday at 7:07 p.m. at the GFL Memorial Gardens.
