Storm sunk by late goal to fall to eighth in conference

SARNIA – The Guelph Storm surrendered a goal with less than five minutes to go in the game to drop a 2-1 decision to the Sarnia Sting in Ontario Hockey League play Saturday night at Sarnia’s Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

The loss was the Storm’s 12th in 13 games and leaves them at 28-28-5-4, good for eighth in the Western Conference. They’re one point behind both the Windsor Spitfires (30-28-4-2) and Saginaw Spirit (29-27-8-0), but both Windsor and Saginaw have a game in hand.

Nate Schnarr had the goal for Guelph while Isaac Ratcliffe assisted on the play.

Hugo Leufvenius and Adam Ruzicka had a goal apiece for Sarnia and Jamieson Rees had an assist.

The Storm outshot the Sting 41-32 and neither team had a power-play goal. The Storm had four power plays and Sarnia had two.
