
Storm surrender overtime setback to London
LONDON – The London Knights scored twice in the third period and once in overtime to edge the Guelph Storm 3-2 in OHL play Tuesday night at Budweiser Gardens.
The Storm had grabbed the early lead with single goals in the first and second periods.

Ryan McGuire and Cedricson Okitundu had a goal apiece for Guelph while assists went to Okitundu, Payton Robinson, Braeden Bowman and Jake Murray.
George Diaco scored the winner for London with his 17th goal of the season at 2:05 of overtime.
Sam Dickinson and Ruslan Gazizov connected for the third-period goals for the hosts while Jackson Edward had two assists and Diaco, Ryan Humphrey, Max McCue and Denver Barkley had one apiece.
The Storm was outshot 32-30, the difference coming in the overtime when London had three shots to Guelph’s one.
Neither team managed a power-play goal, the Storm scoreless on four power plays and the Knights on one.
Brayden Gillespie had 29 saves for the Storm while Brett Brochu had 28 for London.
The Storm have a win and three losses, one in overtime, since the Christmas break as they split with the Windsor Spitfires (5-3 win at Windsor Dec. 28, 3-2 loss at home Dec. 30) and lost 8-0 to the Barrie Colts at Barrie on New Year’s Eve. They also had a pair of overtime games at home prior to the break, losing 3-2 to Barrie Dec. 16 and winning 5-4 over the Soo Greyhounds Dec. 17.
The Storm is eighth in the Western Conference at 13-18-4-1. They’re a point behind the Kitchener Rangers (15-14-2-0) and a point ahead of Sault Ste. Marie (10-14-6-4). The Knights, who have won nine of their last 10 games, lead the conference at 24-8-1-0 and are followed by the Saginaw Spirit (23-9-2-0), Windsor (21-8-3-1), Owen Sound Attack (17-12-3-1), Sarnia Sting (16-12-4-2) and Flint Firebirds (17-14-2-1). Erie Otters are 10th at 12-17-0-3.
Next up for the Storm is a pair of games with Erie. They’re to play the Otters at the Sleeman Centre Friday at 7:30 p.m. and at the Erie Insurance Arena Saturday at 7 p.m.
