Storm switches to new logo for 2018-19 season

GUELPH – The Guelph Storm will skate with a new logo on their jerseys beginning in the Ontario Hockey League’s 2018-19 season.

The Storm announced its new logo on its website Thursday.

The new logo, the third for the franchise since it has been located in the Royal City, is similar to the one it replaces. The new logo features a head-on view of the funnel cloud logo that has been used since the 1997-98 season. The team’s full name – Guelph Storm — has also been placed on the funnel cloud.

The logo it replaces had a view of the funnel cloud from the side with the word Storm above it.

The Storm’s original logo was used for six seasons. It featured a stylized scribbled funnel cloud on a red triangle that had a black border. Above the triangle was the word Storm and it had rain slashing through it.

The logo is actually the 10th in the franchise’s history as the franchise began in 1904 as the Toronto Marlboros. They had six logos during their history before the franchise moved to Hamilton to become the Dukes of Hamilton for two seasons starting in the 1989-90 season.
