Storm yields three in a row in loss to Oshawa

GUELPH – The Oshawa Generals scored three consecutive goals on their way to a 4-3 victory over the Guelph Storm in Ontario Hockey League play Friday night at the Sleeman Centre.

The teams were tied 1-1 when Oshawa scored its first goal of the three in a row late in the second period to put the Generals ahead for good. Oshawa extended its lead with two consecutive goals in the third before the Storm scored two late goals to close the gap. The final four goals of the match, two by each team, were scored in the final 6:01 of the game.

Jack Hanley, Ty Collins and Nate Schnarr scored for Guelph while Isaac Ratcliffe had two assists and Schnarr, Ryan Merkley, Barret Kirwin and Dmitri Samorukov each had one assist.

Oshawa received goals from Danil Antropov, Nando Eggenberger, Jack Studnicka and Allan McShane. Serron Noel had two assists while Giovanni Vallati, Dyland Robinson, Nico Gross and Eggenberger each had one assist.

The Generals outshot the Storm 29-28 and scored on their only power play while the Storm was scoreless on three power plays.

Anthony Popovich had 25 saves in the loss for the Storm while Kyle Keiser collected the win in net for the Generals.

The Storm is second in the Midwest Division at 13-7-3-3 while Oshawa is second in the East Division at 16-8-2-0.

Guelph is to host the Kitchener Rangers (12-13-2-0) Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
