Storm’s Durzi OHL defenceman of January

GUELPH – Guelph Storm blueliner Sean Durzi is the OHL defenceman of the month for the month of January.

Durzi started the month with the Owen Sound Attack and was dealt to the Storm just prior to the league’s Jan. 10 trading deadline.

The overager collected five goals and 11 assists with points in 11 of the 12 games he played in during January. He entered Friday night’s game in Ottawa on a nine-game point streak as he had picked up at least one point in each of the nine games he’s played with the Storm.

The trade to the Storm was the first of two deals involving Durzi during the month. Monday, Durzi’s rights were part of the NHL deal that sent defenceman Jake Muzzin from the Los Angeles Kings to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Durzi, who had 14 points in a Storm uniform prior to Friday’s game, had been drafted by the Leafs in the second round of last year’s NHL draft.
