Striker 12th at university/college golf championships

CHILLIWACK, B.C. – Nicholas Striker of the Guelph Gryphons stood in a tie for 12th following the second day of the Canadian University and College Golf Championships Wednesday at the Chilliwack Golf Club.

Striker had a second-round score of 73 to go with his first-round 69 to sit five strokes behind the two-round total of 137 shot by the leader, Zach Olson of the Fraser Valley Cascades.

Daniel Campbell of Fraser Valley was second at 138 and Halen Davis of Fraser Valley, Baptiste Mory of Laval Rouge et Or and Andrew Harrison of British Columbia Thunderbirds tied for third at 139.

Other members of the Gryphon men’s team are Matthew Vihant, Marc-Anthony Manion and Mathew Stevens. Vihant was at 146 after two rounds while Stevens was at 150 and Manion was at 158. Another Gryphon, Trevor Whiton, shot 156.

Fraser Valley led the men’s team standings at 555 while UBC was second at 567 and Victoria Vikes were third at 573. The Gryphs were 11th at 589.

Sarah Dunning, the lone Gryphon in the women’s individual competition, was tied for seventh with a two-round total of 77. Avril Lee of UBC leads at 143 while Veronique Fortin-Latreille of the Montreal Carabins, Ana Peric of the Toronto Varsity Blues and Quinn Fitzgerald of the Victoria Vikes were tied for second at 148.
