
Third loss in five days as Shamrocks edged by Wellesley
CAMBRIDGE – A goal in the middle stages of the second period lifted the Wellesley Applejacks to a 2-1 victory over the Hespeler Shamrocks in a quick Provincial Junior Hockey League game at the Hespeler Memorial Arena Sunday.
All of the scoring in the game that took an hour and 48 minutes to play was limited to a stretch of just less than nine minutes of game time.

Wellesley opened the scoring with 1:08 to go in the opening period while the Shamrocks pulled even at 5:16 of the second. The Applejacks responded with the eventual game-winner a minute and 52 seconds later.
Callum Harvey had an unassisted goal for Hespeler.
Eric Lacey and Austin Cousineau scored for Wellesley while Cameron Ison had the only assist awarded in the game.
Brandon Snider took the loss in the Hespeler net while Wellesley’s Will Crump was the winning goalie.
Shots on net were not reported.
Both teams were scoreless on their power plays as Wellesley had two power plays in the game and the Shamrocks had four.
The loss was the third in a row for the Shamrocks and third in five days.
New Hamburg Firebirds lead the Doherty Division at 4-0-0-0 and are followed by the Woodstock Navy Vets at 3-0-1-0, Wellesley at 3-1-0-0, Tavistock Braves at 2-2-0-0, the Shamrocks and Norwich Merchants both at 1-3-0-0 and Burford Bulldogs at 0-4-0-0.
The Shamrocks are to host Tavistock Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
