Third-period goals give Shamrocks victory over Burford
BURFORD – The Hespeler Shamrocks scored twice in the third period to hand the Burford Bulldogs a 3-1 setback in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday night at the Burford Arena.
After a scoreless first period, the Shamrocks grabbed a lead they relinquish with the lone goal of the second period, a shorthanded tally. They added their second goal early in the third, but Burford got that one back nine seconds later. The one-goal gap stayed until Hespeler netted an empty-netter with 1:15 to play.

Jayvin Ramjit, Sam Gredig and Callum Harvey struck for a goal apiece for Hespeler while assists went to Thomas Giffin, Matthew Hayward, Ramjit and Brett Hartin.
Shayne Dickie scored for Burford with help from Kyle Ilao.
Burford outshot the Shamrocks 31-25 thanks to a 28-15 advantage in the final two periods. Neither team managed a power-play goal although there were seven manpower-advantage situations in the game, four for Burford.
Tyson Gustaw had 30 saves to get the win in the Hespeler net while Nathan Butler had 22 saves for Burford.
The Shamrocks are to be back on the ice Sunday with a 3:30 p.m. game at the Hespeler Memorial Arena. The New Hamburg Firebirds are to supply the opposition.
