Three teams unbeaten following soccer openers

GUELPH – Three teams left the opening mini-tournament of the District 10 high school girls’ soccer season Thursday at the Gryphon Soccer Complex unbeaten.

The Ross Royals won all three of their games while the Guelph CVI Green Gaels and the Bishop Macdonell Celtics each had two wins and a tie.

Ross defeated the Centre Wellington Falcons, Centennial Spartans and St. James Lions while both GCVI and Bishop Mac scored wins over the Orangeville Bears and Lourdes Crusaders and they battled each other to a scoreless draw.

The start of the league’s season was delayed two weeks while refereeing details were ironed out.


Ross 5 Centre Wellington 0

Bridget Edwards had a pair of goals for Ross while single goals were added by McKenzie Coole, Jordan Faveri and Abbi Morrell. Sabrina Mariani picked up the shutout.


St. James 4 Centennial 0

Lily Campbell tallied twice for St. James while Vanessa Garafa and Eva D’Andrea scored once each and Ianna Krudwig had the shutout.


Guelph CVI 2 Lourdes 0

Olivia Puddephatt had a hat trick for GCVI while Kristen Kohlmeier added the other two goals. Ryley Wheelhouse earned the shutout.


Bishop Macdonell 8 Orangeville 0

Ross 3 Centennial 1

Elizabeth Manning struck for a pair of goals for Ross while Bridget Edwards also scored.

Sean Milligan scored for Centennial.


St. James 2 Centre Wellington 0

Linea Ramirez and Lily Campbell had a goal each for St. James.


Lourdes 2 Orangeville 0

Hathena Nguyen and Brooklyn Moschuk scored for Lourdes while Sarah Kirkpatrick had the shutout.


Bishop Macdonell 0 Guelph CVI 0

Goalkeepers with shutouts not reported.


Centre Wellington 2 Centennial 1

Frances Wolkensperg and Amanda Gray had a goal apiece for Centre Wellington.

Sean Milligan scored for Centennial.


Ross 2 St. James 0

Bridget Edwards scored both goals for Ross while Sabrina Mariani picked up the shutout.


Bishop Macdonell 1 Lourdes 0

Lourdes forfeited the game.
