Thunder, Eagles post second senior soccer win of week

ORANGEVILLE – The Westside Thunder of Orangeville and Emmanuel Christian Eagles of Fergus each recorded their second win in three days in District 4 high school senior boys’ soccer play Wednesday.

The Thunder edged the Centre Dufferin Royals of Shelburne 1-0 at Orangeville while the Eagles nipped the Norwell Varsity Reds 2-1 at Palmerston.

Joey Albanese and Caleb Newhook shared the goaltending chores and the shutout for Westside while Waleed Tewana had the game’s only goal.

Zack Kottenberg and Aaron VanSydenborgh scored a goal apiece for Emmanuel Christian in the win over Norwell who received a goal from Assane Arouna.

The Thunder and Eagles are to meet Monday at Westside.

Steven Gibson and Lucci LaRocca split the goaltending duties for Westside.

T. Bradbury had a hat trick while J. Hanson, C. Llewellyn and O. Vehkavaara scored twice each. Single goals were added by L. Horvath, I. Dray, R. Lake and Ethan Meeker.
