Thunder, Royals remain tied atop senior hoops loop

ORANGEVILLE – The Westside Thunder of Orangeville and Centre Dufferin Royals of Shelburne remained tied for first in the District 4 high school senior boys’ basketball league as both posted their second win of the season Monday.

Westside downed the Emmanuel Christian Eagles of Fergus 68-30 while Centre Dufferin dropped the Wellington Heights Wolverines of Mount Forest 70-27.

Caleb Horn had 24 points for Westside in the win over Emmanuel Christian while Jonathan Lyons added 11.

Emmanuel Christian received seven points from Justin VanWoudenberg and five from Tyson Kroezen.

Centre Dufferin was led by Mark Taylor’s 21 points while Jesse Sterling contributed 13.

Eli McDougall-Cook hit for 13 for Wellington Heights.

The Thunder and Royals are each at 2-0 while Emmanuel Christian and the Norwell Varsity Reds of Palmerston are each at 0-1 and Wellington Heights is at 0-2.



Erin 68 Emmanuel Christian 13

Ryan St. Denis sparked Erin with 23 points while Colden Reay and Ethan Smith added 15 apiece.

Travis Vis had five for Emmanuel Christian while Wade Van Eerde chipped in with four.


Centre Dufferin 58 Wellington Heights 51

Abel Sales collected 20 points for Centre Dufferin.

Ethan Andrews had a game-high 21 for Wellington Heights.
