Thunder, Wolverines stay atop senior girls’ hoops league

SHELBURNE – The top two teams in the District 4 high school senior girls’ basketball league kept pace with one another as both posted wins Wednesday.

The Westside Thunder slipped by the Centre Dufferin Royals 41-38 while the Wellington Heights Wolverines downed the Erin Raiders 51-24.

Jaime Wright connected for 16 points to lead Westside over Centre Dufferin.

Shannon Bury had a game-high 19 for Centre Dufferin while Franny McGowan added 12.

Victoria Tesar’s 18 points powered Wellington Heights while Nina Rodrigues chipped in with 12.

Alisha Lorincz had 10 for Erin.

Westside leads the league with four wins in as many outings while Wellington Heights is at 4-1. Centre Dufferin and the Emmanuel Christian Eagles are both at 2-2 and are followed by Erin at 1-3 and the Norwell Varsity Reds at 0-5.

 

Emmanuel Christian 45 Norwell 10

Tessa VanVeen struck for 14 points for Emmanuel Christian while Kaitlyn Niezen had 13 and Naomi Meerstra contributed eight.

Kari Kabbes hit for five for Norwell and Ellysse Charlebois gathered four.

 

Junior

Centre Dufferin 35 Westside 23

Tashlynn Jackson and Carly Maclean each had nine points for Centre Dufferin.

Madison Bigler had a game-high 14 for Westside.

 

Erin 30 Wellington Heights 19

Lauren Bailey netted 13 points for Erin while Maddy Eisner had seven.

Leah Richardson collected seven for Wellington Heights and Sharon Kruizenga had six.
