Top-fives at Magog sprint triathlon for GTP clubmates

MAGOG, Que. – Guelph Triathlon Project clubmates Karol-Ann Roy and Myles Zagar recorded top-five finishes in their classes at the Magog CAMTRI Sprint Triathlon American Cup event Saturday.

Roy was fourth and top Canadian in the elite women’s race as she completed the race in one hour, four minutes and 24 seconds.

Amy Cymerman of the U.S. won in 1:03:17 and was followed by Sophie Linn of Australia in 1:04:04 and Brittany Warly of the U.S. in 1:04:15.

Elise Bolger of GTP was 22nd in 1:07:18 and clubmate Rachel Faulds was 40th in 1:09:31.

Zagar finished fifth in the elite men’s race in 56 minutes and 27 seconds while the winner, Tony Smoragiewicz of the U.S., won in 56:03.

Other GTP competitors in the race included Francis Lefebvre (11th in 56:58), Matthew Wright (14th in 57:07), Taylor Forbes (27th in 57:49), Jacob Jamnicky (29th in 57:58) and Patrick Smith (35th in 58:19).

University of Guelph graduate Alexander Hinton was 15th in 57:14.
