
Top four in D10 girls’ soccer move on to semifinals
GUELPH – There were no surprises in the opening round of the District 10 high school girls’ soccer playoffs as all home teams posted wins in the quarter-finals Thursday.
The Ross Royals (1st, 6-0-1) defeated the Lourdes Crusaders (8th, 0-5-2) 4-0, the St. James Lions (2nd, 5-1-1) downed the Centre Wellington Falcons (7th, 1-5-1) 6-1, the Guelph CVI Green Gaels (3rd, 4-2-1) got by the Bishop Macdonell Celtics (6th, 1-3-3) 3-1 and the Orangeville Bears (4th, 3-3-1) edged the Centennial Spartans (5th, 2-3-2) 1-0.
Winners advance to the semifinals Tuesday at 4 p.m. Ross is to host Orangeville while GCVI is to play at St. James.
Semifinal victors are to clash in the championship match Friday at 1 p.m. at a site to be determined.

Brook Hoyer scored twice for Ross while single goals were added by Charlie Capper and Maddie Ryan. Amber Spraggett had the shutout.
St. James 6 Centre Wellington 1
St. James received two goals from Elivia Garbuio and one each from Keira Guerin, Tessa Arulampalam, Laura Gamin and Becca Connelly.
Prigh tallied for Centre Wellington.
Guelph CVI 3 Bishop Macdonell 1
Maddy Purdy scored all three goals for GCVI.
Martina Vair connected for the goal for Bishop Mac.
Orangeville 1 Centennial 0
Mortson scored the game’s lone goal and Skinkle had the clean sheet.
