District 10

Top four move on to girls’ soccer semifinals

GUELPH – The top four in the standings at the end of the District 10 high school girls’ soccer league’s regular season advanced to the semifinals with quarter-final victories Thursday.

Gaining berths in the semifinals were the first-place Centennial Spartans, second-place Ross Royals, third-place Bishop Macdonell Celtics and fourth-place Orangeville Bears.

Centennial is to host Orangeville Tuesday at 3 p.m. while Ross is to host Bishop Macdonell at 2 p.m.

Winners are to meet in next Friday’s championship match. It’s set for 2 p.m. at a site to be determined.

 

Centennial 20 Lourdes 0

The Spartans received goals from 11 players. They were unbeaten in the regular season while Lourdes was winless.

Sophie Danker and Mira Watkins collected hat tricks while Bella Proud, Avery Goodchild, Leah Panariti, Kiera Harris and Elise Evants gathered two goals apiece. Chantal Wayne, Lisa Kaltwasser, Jasmine Bousfield and Kennedy Shutsa added single goals.

 

Ross 6 Centre Wellington 0

Brooke Hoyer had a hat trick for Ross while Lily Spadafore scored twice and Taylor Attridge connected for the other goal. Amber Spira had the clean sheet in net.

 

Bishop Macdonell 2 Guelph CVI 0

Kya Jacobs scored both goals for Bishop Mac.

 

Orangeville 3 St. James 2

Hurst, Mills and Seebek had a goal apiece for Orangeville.

Lawson fired in both goals for St. James.
