
Trio of second-half goals lift Guelph Union to victory
MISSISSAUGA – Guelph Union scored three times in the second half to hand North Mississauga SC a 5-2 setback Saturday afternoon in League1 Ontario Women’s Premier play at Churchill Meadows.
Cassandra Briscoe broke a 2-2 when she scored for Union in the 54th minute.

Union had led 2-1 at halftime before Calaigh Copland tied it for the hosts one minute into the second half.
Nadya Gill had scored in the eighth minute to give North Mississauga the early lead.
Olivia Brown pulled Union even five minutes later and Sami Falkenstein put Guelph ahead in the 36th minute.
Falkenstein added her second goal of the game in the 70th minute while Venessa Mazur rounded out the scoring eight minutes after that.
The victory put an end to a three-game winless streak for Union who had losses to Electric City FC of Peterborough and the Woodbridge Strikers and a tie with Alliance United FC of Scarborough in that stretch.
The Guelph side is ninth in the league standings at 4-3-2 while North Mississauga is 15th at 2-5-1.
Union is to host Hamilton United (2-7-1) at Alumni Stadium June 12. Game time is 4 p.m.
